Western Kansas Child Advocacy Center 

My name is Anya Kasselman. 

I was born in Ukraine and moved to the United States almost 20 years ago. After becoming an American citizen, I had the opportunity to serve my community through working at the public library and public school as a SPED para, and managed a local thrift store and a breadbasket for the last 3 years. I have enjoyed volunteering in different clubs, groups, and events; while also being a mom and raising my family.

I am fluent in three languages and currently learning a fourth. Being multilingual has given me a deeper appreciation for different cultures and has helped me connect with people from many different backgrounds.

I have many hobbies, but thrifting and crafting are two of my favorites. I love finding hidden treasures, giving new life to things that might otherwise be overlooked, and finding creative ways to make a difference in my community.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Joel, and our three children. And if you ever see me working in my backyard, you may also notice my pet chicken stopping by to check up on me—she has made it her personal responsibility to make sure I’m never working alone!

I’m excited to bring my experience, creativity, and love for people to the Colorful Lion Thrift Store and its partnership with the Western Kansas Child Advocacy Center. I believe a thrift store can be much more than a place to shop—it can be a place where people come together, give back, and make a meaningful difference.

Every donation, purchase, and volunteer hour helps support children and families on their journey toward healing and empowerment. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of something that strengthens our community and helps children heal.
